If anyone's curious about Asch's backstory in this AU, beyond "Asch was never replicated and grew up in Baticul", there are some details that carried through from Luke's story in Tales of the Abyss. Here's the cliffnotes version:
- Here is his appearance. Short-haired, elegant, more kingly and calm. He's what any prince should aspire to be, really, without being totally unlike himself.
- As stated above, Asch was never replicated. He was raised in Baticul as Luke fon Fabre, a viscount of the Kimlascan court, tertiary heir to the throne and Natalia's bethrothed. Normally they'd be married shortly after his 20th birthday, but due to his predicted death they were going to be wed pretty soon in the hopes of getting an heir out of the deal first. Those plans were halted thanks to the Tear incident explained below.
- Van's plan in this AU resembles what he'd told Luke in the dungeon pre-Akzeriuth; he's unhappy with how Luke's been treated & how much weight is placed on the Score, and -plans to overthrow it in a less world-destroying manner. He wants to prevent the mess of Akzeriuth without relocating the people, then spirit Luke away to Daath and start spreading discontent and information about the Closed Score.
- Tear, having been instructed by Mohs to stop Van's plans, still accidentally kidnaps Luke via hyperresonance, and they journey to Malkuth and meet with Ion, Jade, and Anise more or less the same way, albeit with less whining and more diplomatic silence. (A notable change is that this Luke never went into the Cheagle Woods for stealing an apple but rather because he and Tear caught Ion sneaking out alone and opted to escort him for Van's sake.)
- Due to his upbringing and Van's much gentler influence, AU'd Luke is kind, courteous, and formal, and thanks to Guy's involvement, he has a better sense of humour than Asch could ever hope to have. He smiles more easily, and while he can be aloof, he's fairly easygoing.
- His timeline is a couple of days into his journey to Akzeriuth.
- More details might show up here as I think of them.
