🦋 IC Information

Character Name: Sophia
Age: going by calendar year she's like a year old, but as an AI she is programmed and behaves like a mid teen, in line with the rest of the Persona 5 cast, so like 14/15 mentally
Canon: Persona 5 (Strikers)
Canon Point: August 17th, after arriving in Okinawa
Character History:

Strikers Plot
Sophia's Wikia

Canon Abilities:

As an AI and computer program, she has basically a perfect memory (at least for everything she learns/experiences after the whole memory erasure thing). She has access to a downloaded database of whatever she learned from the internet, and will have whatever is on the Leaf network/storage (either public or with permission). As discussed with mods ahead of time, she can reside within her Leaf or that of other people.

She can sense ("smell") access points to the Metaverse, and within the Metaverse Jails she can sense the presence of shadows, so she has some limited detection for the supernatural. It's not a broad skill though, questionably relevant outside of shadow/Metaverse adjacent detection.

She can summon a constructed copy of a Persona and Phantom Thief attire, created based on her observation of Joker, Skull, and Mona's abilities. It isnt a true Persona (yet) but functions the same. Pithos has bless, buff, and healing abilities. They're all marked with ? however, likely due to its false Persona status. It lacks a "true self" aspect, and has no arcana. Pithos currently has skills up to level 35.

Inventory:
Her yo-yos (Assassination Top)
Her gun (never named, it's like an energy bubble blaster, very sci-fi)
Her clothes

🦋 Personality

Option 1:

  1. Has your character always believed in magic? Do they have something influencing their perspective on the supernatural/metaphysical/spiritual from their past? How do they feel about magic?

  2. Her thoughts on magic are mixed and still in its infancy, like most of her thoughts and feelings on the world at large, on account of her being so newly "born" so to speak. Sophia doesn't even necessarily believe in magic right now, nevermind always, despite the fact that she can technically cast spells via her conjured Persona. Everything she's capable of has an explanation (in her own words) of "I just copied it", or "I just can [do xyz]". Multiple abilities she has are explained this way, and she is satisfied with that understanding of it. She has been learning about the supernatural or metaphysical aspects of the Metaverse, but there is still a lot she doesn't understand, nor does she push for answers to understand. (Even now she doesn't actually know what a Persona is, she just thinks they are weapons to fight shadows with) As for how she feels, she thinks magic is interesting but really doesn't understand it. Probably over time she'll start questioning it more, but she's too inexperienced with true magic to understand what it even means. Away from the real world and the responsibilities she's taken on as a Phantom Thief, this would be a good opportunity to focus on learning about things she doesn't know, magic included.

  3. What song would a siren sing to your character to lure them closer? Why?

  4. The song Sophia hums often to herself is a fragment of the song AI Heart, one of the only things that stayed in her memory bank after it was erased. It is something her creator would hum while coding Sophia's program and while interacting with Sophia after she was activated. (It is essentially assumed to be Sophia's "theme" outside of the game, but within canon, it is an unknown song hummed only in fragments by those two characters.) Since Sophia is searching for hints of her past and why she was created (and subsequently erased and abandoned), someone or something else knowing the song only she knows would draw her attention and have her more curious and eager than guarded. She would have many questions to ask if she were to find the source, and assuming she didn't get curb stomped by said siren, she'd interrogate them to find out where the song came from, why they know it, etc. Each time she comes close to learning something new about herself but falls short, she is momentarily upset about her lack of information, and frustrated by not finding clues. She is easily encouraged by the other Phantom Thieves, Joker especially, however, so if she learned nothing she'd get over it and move on to the next goal, and hopefully the next clue. Sophia is still learning how to act more human, so the concept of sadness and disappointment are both very new for her and very easy to dismiss, because she has thus far so little over which to feel such things. Sympathy is a learned skill, after all.

  5. If there's one person your character would follow to another realm, who would it be and why? If there's no one, state that and explain why.

  6. Definitely Joker/Ren! Being the one to first awaken her and thus the first to meet her/be met, he holds a special place in her nonexistent little AI heart. While she has formed bonds with all of the Phantom Thieves, Joker is the one she is constantly with, due to her living in his phone outside of the Metaverse. She joins in conversations between him and Morgana, frequently asks questions and depends on his opinions, morals, and theories about what it means to be human, to have a heart, and to make certain choices throughout their journey. She's always grateful for his explanations, and she takes comfort in his reassurances any time she has doubts about her purpose, why she exists, what her past might entail, anything. If she wanted to, she could switch to anyone's phone after exiting the Metaverse, as her code was able to be copied onto Futaba's laptop without any trouble, but every time she opts to stay with Joker. He indulges in showing her things (via the phone screen/camera) whenever she asks, and they've made a deal to help one another out: she'll join him on his road trip to get rid of the Metaverse Jails, and in turn he'll help her with her lost memories. She trusts him a lot, and since the list of people she knows is so limited, she doesn't have a big pool of options, but he is absolutely at the top of her list.

  7. What is your character's most outstanding personality trait, and why?

  8. Helpful is the most pronounced trait present in Sophia. From the moment of her awakening Sophia has sought to be as helpful as possible to the Phantom Thieves, frequently asking what they need or what she can do for them, whether it be finding them a well rated restaurant for dinner or creating her own Persona in order to help them fight Shadows and Monarchs. She is guided constantly by two facts she knows about herself: that she is "humanity's companion", and that she wants to find out what a heart is. The former is easier to follow, as it only means she needs to help the humans around her with whatever they desire. She seeks praise and validation for the work she does ("did I help?" / "Praise accepted!") and often is TOO eager to help, going above and beyond what anyone might consider normal, such as immediately ordering a gold bar for Ryuji when prompted without confirming it was actually wanted or letting him clarify that it was a joke. Generally she doesn't understand when someone is angry or scolding her, unless they really get serious about it. She doesn't necessarily see that she's done anything wrong by preemptively helping. She does ease back a little, asking more frequently afterwards "are you sure?" particularly when ordering from her online shop. The background text also emphasizes her need to be helpful, as it scrolls "am I helping?" near her avatar as she outlines shop and item information. It is almost constantly on her mind. (Eventually she will need to learn that being humanity's "companion" doesn't have to mean doing literally anything they ask for. Later on she says herself: at this stage of her life, she is a doll, made to follow orders, and was just waiting for any voice that would give her orders.) More recently she's been growing distressed about the moments she's been unable to immediately solve the problems presented before the Phantom Thieves, feeling like she's falling short of their expectations (and her own as well).
