CHARACTER INFO
❥ Name: Lup
❥ Canon: The Adventure Zone
❥ Canon Point: After the Suffering Game (episode 58) + CRAU

❥ History: Wikia Link
❥ CRAU?: Y, from [community profile] driftfleet

-Lup was in Drift Fleet from September 2018 to July 2019 (endgame)

-she met up with her twin, Taako, but as his memories of her had been stolen from him, she had to gradually befriend him and earn his trust over the course of her stay. A complicated task considering she shared his face and wore the robe of his enemy, but she rose to the occasion anyway.

-First Planet: she spent most of her time rebuilding her collection of spell components, helping Taako adjust to her presence, swindling clothes and money out of every sucker she could find, and adapting to life in the fleet.

-she worked with Shiro and a group of engineers/magic users to build a secret network within the fleet, so they could communicate without the showrunners, the Atroma, knowing what they're saying.

-Libuscha IV: on a festive planet where certain selfless or sharing acts could net someone a boon from a magic tree, Lup shared darker aspects of her history with Haggar and was "rewarded" with the Umbra Staff. Her poor reaction to this resulted in a fight with Taako, which she later made up for by apologizing and giving him the staff as a gift. She reconnected with Haggar and they bonded over their checkered histories.

-Kravitz arrived, a reaper from their world whom she assumed would be an enemy, but ended up not only knowing who she was but treating her as an ally despite her being a lich. Over time she came to rely on him and their shared connection with Taako.

-A few months in Taako attempted to escape with a botched spell and almost died; she chewed him out and was finally honest with him rather than trying to mostly stay on his good side. She pledged to always be there for him, whether he believed it or not.

-Magnus arrived from their world, and she gained some stability since he remembered her.

-Calibrations: Taako visited her dream room and regained his memories temporarily, giving them the reunion she'd longed for since arriving. Discovering that he lost them again in the morning caused her to spiral and begin losing control of her lich side, so Kravitz helped to imprison her in her room until they were off the Marsiva.

-during this time she also experienced several close CR memories in their rooms: Magnus, Taako, Haggar (Honerva), Loki, Belth. Visitors to her own room include the same people, as well as Thor and Shin-ah, who learned of her lich soul.

-upon their return to the ships, the shields of the Marsiva were dropped temporarily; Lup joined in the attack on it until they were restored.

-after calibrations she mended things with Taako as best as she could; she admitted she's a lich and tried to work around the voidfish block and explain who she is to him. They come to an agreement and remain friends.

-on the final planet, she earned the Animus Bell which helped to balance and stabilize her lich soul. When Taako's memories were regained around the same time, they are at last able to properly reunite.

-in the game's finale, Lup once again assists with the attack on the Marsiva, and with infiltrating the ship. In the end, she chooses to return home with her family.

❥ Personality: In many ways Lup is a softer version of her twin. She's snarky and judgmental, she can be awfully self centered, and she's learned to be scrappy after having to fend for herself for half of her life- one hundred years worth, more or less. She grew up on the road, being passed from place to place or wandering freely, so her only constant was her brother. Because of their transient nature during most of her formative years she's not really the sort to put down roots. She loves and is devoted to Taako- she calls him her "heart" and she knows that the two of them are stronger and better together than apart. The other hundred years of her life has been spent traveling from plane to plane (of existence, specifically), trying to outrun and outsmart a world devouring monster through space, with a group of six other people for long term company and a collection of worlds experienced for a single year before leaving it forever. Due to her traveling lifestyle the only solid long-term housing she's ever had is their ship, the Starblaster, so her concept of what home is tends to lean more towards loved ones than an actual location.

Lup graduated alongside Taako as top of her field from the Institute of Planer Research and Exploration, meaning she's an accomplished scientist and arcanist, a wizard specializing in evocation magic. Though she is frequently flippant and wild, when things get serious she's the more likely twin to step up and get involved or help with less reluctance than Taako, who leaned more towards self-preservation. She is also less willing to sacrifice others to accomplish their goals. During their difficult journey through time and space she's the most openly vocal about preserving the morality of their group- when half of the group wanted to destroy a crystal that was keeping a population of automatons alive in order to keep the Hunger from consuming it and growing stronger, Lup stepped up to defend them and made the crew consider other options instead. Afterwards, she convinced the group to promise never to make that kind of decision again- to never choose to sacrifice the safety of another world or its people just to accomplish their mission. She's also the first one of their group to try and reclaim her relic on Faerun, when she could no longer stand by and watch the destruction it wreaked upon the world.

When it isn't being used to hurt innocent people, she loves power and chaos, never hesitating at the chance to strut her stuff and show off. She thrives around conjured fire and has expert control, weaving flames around her companions to attack only the enemies they face. She delights in taking playful potshots at her friends and allies, or less playful verbal burns and one liners at her enemies. She wields sarcasm and mockery like dual knives, always sharp and ready. In the other hand, she doesn't let her occasionally prickly personality prevent her from being sincere when it counts, and she'll openly and nakedly share her feelings with those she trusts, good or bad, angry or loving.

When charged with giving her the best day ever, Taako chose five steps that showcased who Lup is as a person very well- 1) a huge, excellent breakfast, for her love of food and good cooking, 2) a long nap, for her lazy streak, 3) a surprise water gun fight for her love of a good prank, 4) a huge empty building for how she takes joy in magically induced chaos and destruction, and 5) a home cooked meal of their childhood, for her love for family and to help her remember what's home. At the end of the day Lup thanks him, job well done, and those memories are what helps her hold on to her stable mentality when she becomes a lich, and every time she loses her physical body it keeps her grounded, rather than becoming a destructive, uncontrolled monster.

Lup's choice for what she uses as her centers before the lich transformation is significant- it's wiser to choose something solid, something that can't be lost, but Lup chose people- her lover and her brother. To Lup, her connections to those she loves will always be stronger than any link she might have to a place, or an object, or a concept or goal.

Lup has spent the last decade or so trapped in a magical umbrella, and only in the last year or so has she had anything to do except sit in a cave next to her own dead body waiting to be found- even after that, no one could see or hear her, so she's had to learn patience and she's understandably a bit stir crazy. She's been a silent witness to her brother's life since he found the umbrella, and the only times she was able to manifest her abilities or voice outside of the umbrella was in moments of great distress or danger to either of them, such as when he struggled in battle, or when her undead presence was detected by a reaper. One of the major exceptions of that rule is when she was able to concentrate her powers and spell her name into the wall with a Scorching Ray. This patience of hers was born of sheer tenacity and a stubborn refusal to be devoured or contained, and it paid off and eventually gained her back her freedom. She has never been the sort to give up easily, and she's quick to zero in on any alternative to surrendering, regardless of how long it might take or how unlikely it may be.

As a sidenote: Lup was assigned male at birth and is transgender- she identifies as female. As per canon she has fully transitioned, and they come from a universe where there is a spell that can permanently transform a person's body (True Polymorph), and it's never come up ICly, so as far as she and Taako are concerned its a non-issue. Lup is fairly straightforward, but hardly up front about her past, so while she isn't about to bring it up, if questioned it's not something she'd bother denying. If it bothers anyone that's their problem, not hers.

❥ Abilities:

Elven abilities:
-Darkvision – for a 60 foot radius dim light looks bright, and darkness looks like dim light
-Trance – instead of sleeping, she can go into a light trance for 4 hours a day and fully recover her spells
-Keen Senses – extremely perceptive (proficient)
-Fey Ancestry – difficult to charm and sleeping spells don’t work on her
-Linguist – fluent in multiple languages including Common, Elvish, and the language of the Animal Kingdom. HC: she also knows Infernal as her additional language (high elf/wizard perk)

Lich abilities:
-Undead/Immortal – if her physical body is destroyed or slain, she automatically reverts to her spectral lich form (aka a spooky flame ghost in a red robe); she loses most of her ability to physically interact with the world, but is much stronger and more durable in that form. Liches can also possess bodies, living or dead, and possibly wrestle control away from them for a period of time.
-Spells – when she became a lich, she learned a gauntlet of necromantic spells relevant to her mission (AKA get strong, defeat the Hunger)- mostly destructive abilities
-Strengths/Immunities – liches are resistant to cold/lightning/necrotic damage and immune to poison, mental conditions (like charm/fear/paralysis) and non-magical physical attacks; these immunities apply ONLY to her lich form (HC: as her body is technically dead, I assume Lup runs somewhat cool and is more tolerant than most to cold temperatures, much like the reaper character Kravitz in-canon)

Note: As liches can't physically touch, I assume her body could be brought back by the gods via the same manner as a regular death revival if she were to lose it. Playing lich-Lup long term isn't ideal for forming relationships or getting the cuddles in, and she wouldn't be very happy about it, either.

Note 2: Her lich ability to possess bodies other than her own would be subject to player permission.

Wizard abilities:
-Evocation – she can technically cast any wizard spell she knows, but her speciality is the ability to summon and manipulate elemental magic
-Spell Sculpt – she can weave her spells around her allies so they don't get hurt by friendly fire
-War Caster – when focused on a spell, it's difficult to break her concentration, and she can cast a spell as a reaction at a moment's notice
-Ritual Casting – she can cast certain spells without using a spell slot
-Overchannel – she can opt to do maximum damage on a spell (but multiple uses without resting will kill her over time)
-Arcane Recovery – Once a day, she can take a short rest and recover spell slots up to Level 6

Note 3: D&D wizards can learn spells that are mind-manipulating, but they are not Lup's speciality so I do not use them. She does have some stupidly powerful ones, however, so as a rule, any spells that could potentially mess with the game or affect other characters are subject to permission from either mods or the involved characters. If something relevant comes up I will ask first!

Artificing abilities:
-She has learned how to craft magical objects and weapons
-Given the proper components and enough time, she'd be able to forge and enchant objects, recreate magical items, or accept custom commission requests

Note 4: Artificing in canon requires a specific magic dust material that would require a regain request, so she can't make such things willy nilly. (Said dust can be created by destroying other magical artifacts however, so in lieu of a regain, an existing item would have to be sacrificed)

❥ Extras:

Chosen items:
1) a magic dress that offers fire protection and changes colour on command
2) an enchanted metal-knuckled glove/gauntlet that enhances her magic & casts Flame Blade
3) a violin set

Which god will they choose to support? Or do you wish to be randomized? Diacht
