CHARACTER INFO
❥ Name: Noctis Lucis Caelum
❥ Canon: Final Fantasy XV
❥ Canon Point: end of chapter 8 (leaving Cape Caem)
❥ Fandom OC Approval: N/A
❥ History: Wikia
❥ CRAU?: N/A
❥ Personality:
As the crown prince of Lucis, Noctis has led an understandably complicated life. On one hand, being a prince means frequently being in the spotlight, living with a certain degree of prestige and luxury. On the other hand, it means he has numerous duties (and more recently, a legit destiny) to fulfill. He grew up while his country was constantly at war with their enemy, Niflheim, but he also grew within the magically protected bubble of his home city, so he was relatively sheltered and safe for most of his life. The few times he left the city, he learned firsthand just how dangerous the outside world is, and how heavy the threat of war has been on his father.
Being royalty has netted him many privileges growing up, but Noctis isn't entirely spoiled, either. He attended public schools and grew up among the citizens he believed he would one day grow up to rule, and although he never really got that close to anyone outside of his royal circle (until Prompto came alone, that is) he didn't look down on them, either. His isolation was more due to social awkwardness and the other children being too nervous to address him rather than the other way around. In high school, when Prompto finally built up the courage to introduce himself, Noct's reaction is warm and teasing, as if they were friends already. When he writes to Luna about it, he's excited to at last have made a real friend. Aside from school, he also worked part-time at a local restaurant, something that would likely have been unnecessary for him to survive considering his status, and he lived in his own apartment outside of the palace since he was 15, rather than relying on servants and the royal retinue to take care of his every need. (Though he was messy and bad at cooking, so Ignis often took care of him anyway.) On the radio in-game he's described as "well mannered", a "kind soul", and that he regularly takes part in community service, so his public image is something he's put enough thought into to at least give a good impression to the people he'd been destined to lead one day.
He's known on occasion to comment that in some ways, life on the road as a hunter/rebel is easier than being the crown prince of Lucis. It offers him more freedom, and although he still has a duty to follow his anointed path, he's able to relax and take time for himself out on the road with his friends far more than he could in the Crown City with all eyes constantly on him as a public figure. People still recognize him at times out on the road, but it's so infrequent that he's usually surprised when it happens (and when they know him and haven't turned him in, due to his wanted status in the empire).
He still carries some bitterness and reluctance to proceed with his duties- when reminded by Cor that he's the king shortly after his father dies, his first response is to bitterly question just what he's king of, now that his entire country has fallen into the hands of their enemy. He is scolded for this reaction, and it isn't the first time that his anger and hesitance is called out by his comrades. Noct's response to being chided or yelled at is to typically object to this treatment, to yell back and object about his pain and coping methods being brought to the forefront, though typically he is also able to overcome (even if, at times, it's only temporarily) his poor behaviour and step up to the plate. Regardless of his protests, he doesn't run away from his duties, but it's easy to see that he wouldn't be able to accomplish nearly as much without his friends at his side. He is their prince, but still often defers to their judgment, and relies on their support.
He can be incredibly lazy at times. He loves to nap, and has been known to complain during especially arduous tasks even if they're tasks necessary for survival or the fulfilment of his calling. He's also a huge nerd with a competitive streak, and loves fun in many forms; he's spent a lot of time playing video games, on his phone or at an arcade, he'll take time away from his important mission to fish and relax, and he and Gladio are known to have friendly competitions from time to time. He's a prince with the weight of the world on his shoulders, but that's not stopping him from playing a few rounds of King's Knight before bed.
He tends to keep the aforementioned part of himself more close to his chest, around those who know him well enough to call attention to it; with others he frequently tries to play "cool", his somewhat aloof personality at the forefront when he's in the public eye. Like many people, Noctis is different with strangers than he is with those he's close to, particularly if they've made a poor first impression. He can come across as awkward and dismissive, overly blunt and not afraid to speak his mind about how he feels (with regards to the situation or even the person he's talking to).
He cares a lot about his friends and family, but it can take him a while to open up and speak his mind about what he truly feels. Multiple times he's had to be prodded into speaking up, and one of the key regrets he feels is how he wished he'd taken the chance to share what he's thinking with loved ones who have died, or tell them how he felt. To his father, "There's still so much I wanna tell [him]," or to Luna, "There was so much you wanted to say… so much I wanted to say… and now… I'll never have the chance". Even so, despite his difficulties with saying it aloud, he values the presence and the help of his comrades greatly, and is aware of the fact that he would struggle a lot if left on his own. This is demonstrated when, during parts of canon that he's forced to travel or fight by himself, it leaves him frightened, panicked, and desperate to reunite with his allies. He's learned what all good kings ought to know- that without your people to support you, you're just a man like any other.

❥ Abilities:
- Power of Kings: essentially a magic hammerspace, he can summon weapons or items stored in this alternate space at will. He can also transfer this summoning ability to those in his entourage if he so chooses
- Warping: he can throw an item infused with his power and instantly teleport to wherever it is in its trajectory at the time of his teleport; he's also able to phase his body into a different position if timed correctly, in order to dodge attacks
- Royal Arms: weapons of past kings pulled from tombs he's visited can be summoned through the Power of Kings; these weapons are powerful but drain the life of the user
- Armiger: a special ability (or his limit break in game terms) where he can summon all of his Royal Arms at the same time to protect him and attack repeatedly and automatically
- Elemental Magic: he can drain the elements from the world and transmute that raw energy into spells, or transfer that energy to his allies so they can use magic in his stead
- Summon: included purely for full disclosure, but Noctis has formed pacts with two (theoretically three, counting the DLC) of the gods of his world, granting him the ability to summon them for a single mighty attack if certain conditions in battle are met (eg. he's been fighting a long time, or takes a specific degree of injury). See below for nerfing.
❥ Extras:
Would you like your characters abilities nerfed? What would you like them to lose or how will it be cut down?
- as a member of the line of Lucis, Noct shares the same abilities as Regis, so his abilities will be nerfed in much the same fashion. This refers to his hammerspace/Armiger and Royal Arms.
- Noct's ability to summon will not work in-game, as the gods of his world are inaccessible. It seems pretty unlikely that he could form the same kind of pacts with the gods of this world, so it's better to just assume he can't do it at all.
Did your character bring anything along (limit 3 items) with them?
1) Ultima Blade (upgraded Engine Blade model)
2) Royal Arm - Blade of the Mystic
